  • This institution was established under the name of “CENTER FOR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND STUDIES”, or it is translated into PUSAT KAJIAN DAN PENGUATAN KEWARGAAN, based in Yogyakarta.
    The center was established by various parties who have different backgrounds of activism in the realm of civil society, but it has the same perspective and mission in trying to strengthen the civil society and the media as a major factor in safeguarding the democratic transition in Indonesia towards the better.

Alisa Wahid

— Board of Director

Alisa Wahid is a trained family psychologist with experience of community development and social movements. She dedicates her time as volunteers and professionals in a number of civil society organizations since 1990. Alisa Wahid is currently the coordinator of the network of the GUSDURian Indonesia. This network consists of more than 100 local communities and thousands of people in Indonesia and various cities in the world.
As a leader of an extensive network, Alisa involves and supervises various programs of social change, with the focus on dialogue inter religion and multiculturalism, democracy, civil society and specialized courses on Islam in Indonesia. The greatest interest of this woman is to support future generations to become community leaders.

Arie Sudjito

— Board of Director

This Doctoral Candidate of Sociology, University of Gadjah Mada has had professional experience of more than 18 years in the field of research, writing and activities in the field of advocacy. More than 20 books have been written by him, either individually and as part of a team. As a researcher, Arie has started doing research since he was a student and most of the researches conducted are related to village advocacy, improvement of good governance, as well as the basic rights of citizens. In addition to researches and writing books, Arie much involves in the civil society movement in Indonesia. Besides once served as the Executive Director of the IRE (Institute for Research and Empowerment), Arie is active in IRE until today as a senior researcher.
This Lecturer of Social and Political Sciences faculty of Gadjah Mada University also actively involves in the civil society movement to become a chairman of the Board of the National Movement of Indonesia as well as being a National Vice Chairman of the National Secretariat (Seknas) of Indonesian Forum for Budget Transparency (FITRA). Arie established CCES in 2014 along with Okky Madasari, Yulia Evina Bhara, Imam Prakoso and Ranggoaini Jahja.

Eko Teguh Paripurno

This Doctorate in the field of natural science has professional experience of more than 30 years that is still listed as a lecturer at the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Veteran Yogyakarta. Aside from being a lecturer since 2001, he is the chairman of the Study Center for Disaster Management at the same university up to this moment. Given the Sasakawa Award for disaster management in 2009, he is also a fellow of the Ashoka Global since 2008.
His experience in disaster had begun long before the Disaster Management Act was issued in 2007. In addition, Eko Teguh is also active as a consultant for disaster management activities implemented by UNDP, UN OCHA, BNPB, as well as other international institutions. Outside of his professional career, as an expert, Eko Teguh often engages in advocacy activities on environment damage. Beyond that, he is also active in MPBI (Indonesian Society for Disaster Management), PIKUL and also KAPPALA besides as the Steering Committee of the International Council for Science for Asia Pacific region since 2012 up today.

Kokok Herdhianto Dirgantoro

Kokok Herdhianto Dirgantoro born in the Nationality Indonesia, on August 17, 1976, has a lot of professional experience in media strategy. He graduated Development Studies, Faculty of Economics, University of Brawijaya Malang, completing a Bachelor degree in economy in 2001, and was once a journalist Jawa Pos since 2000-2002. Kokok Herdhianto Dirgantoro have a lot of qualified experience, once a Media Relations Consultant at PT Stracomm Indonesia and PT Bank Permata Tbk, and also a member of a professional organization of practitioners of Public Relations and Communications Indonesia, PERHUMAS. Since the year 2005 – 2013 CEO of PT Strategiccomm Indonesia (TriliantComm), Jakarta. He is a figure known as CEO controversial applying humanism values in the current working system became Founder and CEO of PT Bridge Komunika Indonesia (OpalCommunications).

Imam Prakoso

— Board of Director & Executive Director

A man with a professional experience of more than 25 years and began his career as a researcher, journalist and consultant before starting to enter the world of civil society movement in Indonesia. Urban issues, media engagement, improved governance and disaster management was involved during his professional career. Since 2008, Imam has also served as a Board of Directors of AMARC Asia Pacific, a world community radio organization, sub-regions of Asia Pacific, based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Imam became a co-team leader in an urban development project in Yogyakarta, which is supported by SDC (Swiss Development Corporation), and then became Executive Director of the Combine Resource Institution (CRI), an NGO engaged in alternative media and information technology for social change movements. After more than eight years there, Imam had joined the Governance team in a program of improved governance of public services funded by USAID in Jakarta. Recently Imam is more active as a freelance consultant for some programs, and in establishing CCES along with Arie Sujito, Ranggoaini Jahja, Okky Madasari and Yulia Evina Bhara now he serves as the Executive Director of the CCES.

Ranggoaini Jahja

— Board of Director & Program Manager

Ranggoaini Jahja has worked and pursued issues of human rights, especially women and children, before establishing CCES with her colleagues. Social life of marginalized groups, such as female street children, migrant workers and LGBT are some areas of study she has been interested since 1996.
This Master Graduates of Anthropology UGM then see the importance of encouraging the use of effective media and instruments to encourage information management for community knowledge. She studied the competence in that field since 2015, after joining the Combine Resource Institution, an NGO in Yogyakarta. Since then, the strengthening of organization capacity at the local level to get involved in the governance become an activity that she has been doing up today.

Ferry Edwin Sirait

— Knowledge Management Officer

He wrestle journalistic activities since in the Student Press PIJAR, then graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Gadjah Mada by writing an undergraduate study entitled ‘Existential Dilemma of State’.

He had long ago become a professional as Videomaker and web developer. Habits in the creation of audiovisual works and familiarity with some computer programming language that is based on the database, the system processes, research and story encouraged him to cultivate the area of Trans-storytelling.

Together with some of his friends made a multidisciplinary design collective employment of named NextDoc. Because he was pleased to relate mutually with grassroots communities that fight for social change in some areas, making it always experimenting on the use of media and technology that enables expansion of participation and autonomous interaction. He then continued exploration of this knowledge with the CCES.

Ade Aryana Uli Pandjaitan

— Creative and Media Development

Born in Jakarta and graduated from the Department of Anthropology, University of Indonesia, Depok, he has career as a researcher in anthropology, then becomes a writer in The Alternative Media Aikon, The Latitudes Magazine, and in various print media such as The Jakarta Post, The Kompas, The Koran Tempo, and others. He also deals with a community-based media development by working for eight years in COMBINE Resource Institution and at The Engage Media, being a Coordinator of “Creative Community” for the field of video on the Foundation of Kelola. In addition, he is also active as a facilitator for training citizen journalism and community media development strategy.

He is also active in organizing various events such as Djaksa Fair, Jagongan Media Rakyat, Navicula Music Performance in Sangkring Art Space, Climate Art Festival, and the exhibition of “Tanah to Indai Kitae.” Some of his works on video documentation can be accessed in the media engage and YouTube, including “Kami Mau Sekolah,”” Agama Kami Kaharingan, “”Pemasangan Plang Hutan Adat bukan Hutan Negara,””Sangiang.”
